People have donated over $330,000 to the family of a child who suffered life-threatening injuries after a stranger threw him off a third-floor balcony in the Mall of America.
5-year-old Landen Hoffman from Minnesota was thrown off from the balcony and cops have arrested the stranger they believe is the culprit.
April Hoffman, shared a tribute to the child on her Instagram page, writing: “Please pray for my cousins beautiful son Landen.
“A monster of a man threw him from a 3rd floor balcony at the mall, he is fighting to stay with us every second.”
Friends of the family created a GoFundMe campaign for the boy and wellwishers donated more than $300,000 within hours.
According to the GoFundMe page, “His soul is soft and gentle and instantly brings a smile to everybody he meets.
“He is full of energy and life and enjoys soccer, playing with friends and family and playing hockey with his brother and sister.”
Police said the child was tossed from the balcony on Friday by Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, 24, who is from the Minneapolis metro area.
The man was charged with attempted homicide and is being held at the Blooming Police Department.
Witnesses said a woman at the mall screamed after the boy was thrown.
Brian Johnson told WCCO: “he was screaming ‘Everyone pray, everyone pray. Oh my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge.’”
Bloomington Chief of Police Jeff Potts said: “Additional information from witnesses indicated the 5-year-old might have been pushed or thrown.
“The child did suffer significant injuries,” he added. “The child has been transported to the hospital and has been receiving care.”
We are praying for your fast recovery, Landen!
