An upset mother has spoken out about her daughter’s facial mark and called out haters and trolls who told her that her daughter was “hideous.
”
As 27-year-old Marianna Bowering from Adelaide explained, she had no problems accepting her baby daughter’s facial birthmark for what it is.
However, there are plenty of callous people out there who allegedly harass the mum and make fun of 1-year-old Angelica saying that she looks like she was “pushed onto a skillet.”
As Marianna said, people approach her both in person and online only to make inappropriate comments about her daughter’s birthmark which she refers to as an angel kiss.
“The worst comment online that I’ve gotten is when someone asked if her face had been pushed onto a skillet. Basically, saying her face looked grilled,” the young mum said.
“In person, I think the most hurtful thing was when someone at a soccer game told me that she was a ‘defect.’ He just said that to me and then walked away, I was shocked.
“I’ve gotten other comments from people saying things like she was hideous, that she would never get a boyfriend later in life and that I shouldn’t have let her play with boiling water. People have told me I shouldn’t draw attention to her face.”
As the 27-year-old mother added, she made an Instagram page for the young one because she refuses to hide her from the eyes of the public just because of her birthmark.
“The thing I hate most is when people tell me she can just cover it with make-up when she’s older. Why should she cover it up? If she wants to flaunt it, she can,” Marianna added.
“I get strangers coming up to me all the time asking questions, which I think is a little bit rude. I don’t really mind that as much though, because at the very least I can educate them and help raise awareness.”
While the mother admitted she’s a bit scared of how Angelica might be treated in the future when she starts going to school, she said she’s positive that her daughter “is going to get through anything life throws at her.”
“It breaks my heart to think about anyone being mean to her. But I see her now, and she is such a confident little girl and she isn’t afraid of anything,” she said.
