As Hugh Jackman’s time as a Marvel hero came to an end, thousands of people signed a petition calling for a comedy star as the next Wolverine.
Danny DeVito has spent the last decade making waves as Frank Reynolds in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
But fans now want the 74-year-old to take on a whole new level of challenge. The petition has gained more than 10,000 signatures calling for DeVito to take over Jackman.
The description of the petition says that DeVito is “the only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman.”
It added: “We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the only man able to pull it off is Danny Devito.”
One signee wrote: “Danny Devito is the best actor of all time, and can play any role. If he can play Arnold Schwarzenegger’s twin brother, he can play Logan being the best at what he does.”
Another person said: “Penguin Batman Returns and Frank It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, let’s make it happen.”
A third wrote: “It is my human right to see what I want to see and I want to see Wolverine played by an old, short, fat, balding man. My first preference is Elton Johnbut DeVito is a close second.”
Someone else commented: “I believe Danny Devito is a great actor.”
Another said: “WE NEED DANNY DEVITO IN EVERY SUPERHERO FILM. TONY STARK, BRUCE WAYNE, CLARK KENT, LOIS LANE, SELINA KYLE. ANY ROLE WILL DO!”
