Peter Mallory, the ‘world’s most prolific child porn collector,’ has been freed after serving only seven years of the 1,000-year jail sentence.
Now 72, Mallory was given the term after being found guilty of hiding 26,000 files of minors being assaulted.
But in December last year, Mallory became eligible for parole and was freed this year. The five-person parole board ruled that because of ‘performance credits’ such as good behavior, completing education, and entering into treatment, the 72-year-old qualified for release.
The elderly man will have to register as a sex offender, wear an ankle bracelet, and will be subject to court supervision, according to the New York Daily News.
He will also be banned from Troup county, where he committed his crimes.
District Attorney Herb Cranford wrote in a parole review in December 2019: “No amount of supervision can stop a compulsive sexual deviant like Mallory from seeking out the most heinous images and videos of small children being sexually abused.”
Mallory, who operated and owned the TV33 station from the West Georgia Technical College campus, was investigated in 2011 after authorities were notified about a computer he used as it contained files of abuse.
Authorities then found a stash of child porn in the TV station containing over 26,000 files, including ‘images and videos of children being raped, tortured, and sexually exploited,’ said Cranford.
Police also found a secret camera that the man used to record women in his office.
In January 2013, Mallory was sentenced to 1,000 years, believed to be the longest sentence ever given in the state. But his crimes meant he could be considered for parole and he became eligible in 2019.
