Petition Renaming DC’s Ronald Reagan Airport After LGBT Icon Jojo Siwa Passes 70,000 Signatures


A petition that has been endorsed by LGBT icon Jojo Siwa for renaming Washington DC’s Ronald Reagan airport is making the rounds, reaching up to 70,000 signatures so far.

The move is not only gaining popularity but has many questioning why the airport was named after Ronald Reagan in the first place.

According to media reports, the airport was named after Reagan in the year 1988. However, a few people wanted the name of the airport changed for a second time. As you can probably expect, Jojo Siwa was selected by many to be the person who they felt should lend her namesake to Washington’s airport.

Shockingly, the new petition fails to offer any form of explanation regarding the real motive behind the airport’s name change. However, it did go n to question why the airport was named after a war criminal in the first place.

“For some, this particular piece of information is more than enough to provide justification for the namesake,” it added.

Ronald Reagan, who was a former actor, became the nation’s president in the year 1981. Moreover, many looked at him and his governance with a controversial attitude. In the same way, many looked at his stay in the White House with a not-so-positive outlook.

Therefore, it’s safe to say that not too many would want to be associated with the legacy that surrounds a president like that.

Keeping all of that in mind, people are all set to petition in favor of a name change and for them, entertainer Jojo Siwa seems to be a brilliant successor, after all. At the moment, there are nearly 72,222 signatures with experts predicting more and more in the next few days.
