People Signed Petition To Ban Iconic White Stick Figure In Streets Because They Are ‘Oppressive’

Campus Correspondent Ethan Cai asked students at George Washington University if they would be willing to sign a petition to ban the oppressive white stick figure in streets and most students are more than happy to join the effort!

One of the reasons Campus Reform chose the school for its ‘oppressive’ and ‘offensive’ white walk signal figure petition is because of the students’ recent vote to get rid of the university’s mascot, George the Colonial as it ‘glorifies the act of systemic oppression.’

To test how deep concerns about oppression and offense go at the university, Campus Reform interviewed students if they would be willing to sign a new petition to ban white stick figures in walk signals.

“As we students cross the street, we are told by the symbol of a white man when it is okay to cross,” the faux petition reads. “Many students from diverse backgrounds, including individuals of color, gender fluid individuals, and LGBTQA+ individuals, feel oppressed by this.”

Students who signed the petition let the university know that they “vehemently urge the University to consider changing the crosswalk signs.”

Many students and one faculty member are willing to sign on the faux petition. But one gay said he was ‘ideologically opposed’ to the idea.
