Carly Clark is a former manager of a Petsense store from Spartanburg, South Carolina, who was fired after making threats that she would punch babies and their mothers who breastfeed them in public.

“The next female that tries to whip her boob out to breastfeed in front of my kids will get a black eye, move that baby bc [because] I’ll punch it too,” she wrote in her Facebook post.

Soon after her inappropriate statement, the post went viral and upset parents attacked the company and demanded punishment.

Eventually, Petsense responded to worried customers and explained that they don’t “condone violence such as was recently posted by a Petsense employee.” They also assured everyone that such words didn’t represent the company’s beliefs.

Later on, Petsense also shared the news that Carly was no longer their employee and that the company apologizes to all those who were affected by Clark’s words.

Apparently, the Petsense Gaffney Facebook page was so flooded with complaints that the company decided to deactivate it for a whole day.

“I was angry. I am a nursing mum with my second baby. I already find that breastfeeding is quite hard on my body. To see another woman with kids say that she’s willing to give the woman a black eye for feeding in front of her children – it really takes us a step back to have other women saying this.

“It made me angry because it’s not right for someone to say that at all. I was really shocked. Breasts have become so sexualized and it’s perfectly okay to use them for advertisements and things like, but as soon as you start breastfeeding in public you get looks and it is not right,” an angry mom, Jessi, from Nebraska said.

“I believe on one of her comments her reasoning was that she didn’t want her kids to see [another woman’s breast]. But the thing is that taking a moment out of her day to explain this to her children is going to benefit them. This is what God intended breasts to be for – to feed your baby,” Jessi added.

After a thorough investigation, the company said they “disagree with her individual views and want every breastfeeding mother/family to feel completely safe & welcome to shop with us.”

“This individual is no longer employed by Petsense and on behalf of the entire Petsense family we sincerely apologize to those who have been affected by this matter,” Petsense added.
