Kassie Yeung, Tiktok star, traveled from Los Angeles, California, to Seoul, South Korea, taking video footage of her journey to remove an old love locket she had placed back in the summer of 2019.
Yeung posted a video on her social media platform which has received about 4.5 million views and 1.2 million likes as of today. She traveled to the top of N Seoul Tower, also known as Namsan Tower, which holds over thousands of locks from lovers all over the world. One of them was Yeung’s and her ex’s, determined to find their lock and snip it off.
According to South Korea’s government website, people travel near and far to add a lock to the Namsan Tower to express their symbol of love. Yeung had been one of the tourists who have done this as well, leaving a lock back in 2019 before cutting it off in 2021 out of “pettiness.”
Yeung’s TikTok video shows her on the plane to Korea, leaving the airport to buy a pair of wire cutters while making her way to Namsan Tower. She is met with thousands of locks, but eventually finds the one that her and her ex left, cutting it out of the fence. She said that it took her about 30 minutes to find the lock, being successful in the end.
This was not the only reason as to why she traveled to South Korea. She had visited the country to pursue her career as a future backup dancer, and she had remembered that she left a lock on the tower so she decided to take a detour in order to take the lock down.
Her goal was to create relatable content for her followers. She states that “it is relevant in the sense that everyone goes through relationships, breakups, and possibly having love locks with ex-lovers,” this includes herself. After the video was released, an influx of her followers praised her for the commitment, and a user comments saying that they would like to do the same thing with their old love lock that is located in Paris.
Would you go all this way to make amends?
