Trump Will Resume WHO Funding But With Conditions

US President Donald Trump has decided to rebuke his decision to stop funding for the World Health Organization, according to a leaked White House letter.

Last month, he has made his will known by cutting all funds supporting the international health authority, which contributed a staggering half of the whole WHO budget. He has accused the organization of  ‘severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus’, fueling several conspiracy theories against the organizations from various contributors. It seemed he was consistent with his criticism, saying that: ‘The World Health organisation has been a disaster — everything they said was wrong, and they’re China-centric.’ However, the letter procured by Fox News seems to indicate that not only US is willing to re-subsidize the organization, but it will support the WHO in the same level as China.

‘Despite [its] shortcomings, I believe that the WHO still has tremendous potential, and want to see the WHO live up to this potential, particularly now during this global crisis’ the draft letter reads,’That is why I’ve decided the United States will continue to partner and work with the World Health Organization’ it adds.point 422 |

China contributes about one tenths of that size.point 41 | This is a rather ambivalent move from the White House, considering that there were CIA reports confirming the recent theories that WHO was bullied by China in declaring the January global health emergency, while the Politburo in Beijing kept on amassing medical equipment.point 271 |

The WHO denied that it had bowed to any outside pressure in the early stages of the pandemic, in a statement to the news media: ‘The WHO Constitution says that each Member State must ‘respect the exclusively international character of the Director-General and the staff and not to seek to influence them,’’ the statement said.point 569 |
