There, Omran just silently sits there – he doesn’t even cry because he’s too shocked to react.
Instead, he silent wipes his face, and blankly looks down at the blood on his hand.

According to CNN, Omran’s home in Aleppo, Syria, collapsed due to an airstrike. Even though Omran’s immediate family members survived the attack, not many others were fortunate enough to have survived this bombing.

After the video was taken, Omran was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Mustafa al Sarouq, a camera operator with the Aleppo Media Center who filmed this video, said that this actually happens everyday in Syria.

Every day we cover these massacres and these war crimes in Aleppo.

When we go to the places that have been bombed, regime planes circle around and bomb it again to kill rescue workers that are helping civilians. They kill these people who are trying to rescue people,” said al Sarouq.

In fact, Kate says that the death toll of children in five years of conflict in Aleppo alone amounts to a total of 4,500.

Then, Kate adds, “What strikes me is that we shed tears, but there are no tears here. He doesn’t cry once. That little boy is in total shock. He’s stunned, inside his home one moment and the next, lost in the flurry and fury of war and chaos.”
