A shark photo has gone viral after people couldn’t help but point out the similarities between the animal and the former US president.
The viral photo of a lemon shark was captured by 27-year-old Florida photographer Tanner Mansell who loves diving with sea beasts and taking underwater photos and videos.
After taking a good shot of a 9-foot shark and sharing the photo online, Mansell was surprised to see that people were quick to compare the predator, which is showing off its sharp teeth, to Donald Trump.
“Am I alone to see a trump hair shape?” one person wrote while another said: “Looks like Donald Trump Shark.” Soon enough, the photo, which the photographer took back in 2019, went viral with dozens of people saying the shark’s resemblance to Trump is uncanny.
“Tell me why I thought this was a Trump face swap,” one person joked.
After his photo started making rounds on the internet, Mansell spoke out and admitted he now understands what people mean even though he didn’t initially realize that the shark resembles Trump.
“When I first posted the photo, it completely blew up. I was surprised to see the number of comments it got regarding Trump,” the 27-year-old said.
“I didn’t see it at first but I can see what people are saying. That was always the top comment with many people agreeing. I think it’s funny and unique. I have never heard of anybody comparing a shark to a human.”
Taking the opportunity to educate people about sharks’ behavior, the young photographer also explained why the shark in the photo was extending its jaw and showing off its teeth.
“After a meal, sometimes the ligaments and tendons can become stressed and out of place, so the sharks will open their jaws as wide as they can to re-align everything, and extend their jaws from the head,” Mansell added.
“Kind of like they will do before chomping down on a big meal.
“I had been trying to get a photo of the ‘jaw gaping’ for over a year, I had seen them do it so many times but they were always too far away, facing the wrong direction, and I never had the opportunity to photograph it.
“On this day everything worked out and I got the photo.”
