A photographer was on a work trip to Belize in December 2018 when he found an abandoned puppy on an Island.
When Wesley White was spending his free time on a tiny Island, he spotted a puppy on the Island.
“My heart exploded out of my chest. He was just waiting for a human to show up”, White said.
He rescued the puppy and took him to his hotel.
But, White was worried about the puppy as he was only for two days in Belize and he had to find a home for the puppy in those two days.
“Bringing this dog back, I really had no idea if this was going to work out as my heart wanted it to. At best, I was like, ‘we’ll get him home.’ He’ll end up back in Montana with us.”
White, who already had two puppies named Bell and Anna at home named, took the pup to the vet.
The pup was found to be infested with mites, emaciated, and dehydrated.
For White, the most difficult part was to leave his new friend as he had to return his home.
“It was like giving up my little puppy all of a sudden,” White said.
The dog, named Winston, was then placed in foster care and White was constantly in touch with the foster mother.
After one month, Winston was able to reunite with his rescuer.
“Is he even going to remember me?. Well, it takes him just a few moments of sniffing my feet and sniffing my pants, and I think that whatever had implanted on his brain as far as memory just came to”, White shared.
Winston is now a happy and healthy dog who lives with White’s family and two other dogs.
He has finally been reunited with the man who saved his life.
Thanks to White, who not only saved him but also made him a part of his family.
