5 Time Photo-shoppers Fooled The Entire Internet By Fake Photos That Everyone Believed Were Real


In our daily life, you hardly finish one glass of water in a minute, but on the internet, it’s a completely different story.

According to a report by Cumulus Media, within 60 seconds 973,000 users log in on Facebook, over 1 million swipes on Tinder, over 174,000 users scroll on Instagram and millions of pictures are shared on the social networking platforms.

Of course, not all the pictures go viral, but the pictures evoking strong emotions often get the public’s attention and people starting to re-share them until they get all over the internet.

But do you know, 70% of the time, people re-share the content without doing any research or without confirming the authenticity of the source? That is the reason that the internet is full of fake content which is causing some serious issues all over the world.

Let us have a look at some of the Fake Pictures, that went viral over the internet but someone just used photoshop and people became emotional in a blink of an eye.

1) Remember 2009 vs 2019 rainforest picture?

The photo went viral on Facebook during the #10YearChalleng craze that swept the entire internet community. But in fact the picture was modified, (even the WWF logo was fake). Here are the fake and real pictures and you can do the comparison yourself.

But the fact is that the above picture is not a collage of 2 pictures taken 10 years apart, it is one picture from a photo stock.

2) Asian guy mixing fried rice

Fried rice is very popular dish in China and other East Asian countries that’s why a Japanese young boy took the advantage of people’s belief that all the Asians would be so cool at making fried rice. He took a picture of sculpture in a shop in Tokyo, used some photoshop skills and went viral on the internet.

3) New Year in Paris

There is no doubt that thousands of people visit Paris to celebrate New Year’s Eve but there is also no doubt that lots of fake fireworks photos go viral every year. This photo of fireworks from the Eiffel Tower went viral a few years ago which in fact again is edited. ‘Expectation’ vs ‘Reality’ is a totally different thing in this case.

4) A typical day in Russia

A few years ago a photo went viral on the internet with the titles like ‘Polar Express’ or ‘Typical Day in Russia’ where you see a real white bear getting off the tram somewhere in Russia. People started sharing the photo on social media and it was every where. But the fact is, even though the picture is not photoshopped, the bear is not real but someone wearing the costume. This “bear” was a part of the campaign, Save the Arctic.

5) Mountain-shaped like turtle’s head

You might have come across this picture of a mountain that looked like a turtle head in the middle of a beautiful lake. And the chances are that you also might have thought to go there at least once in your lifetime.

But sorry to tell you that it is also the result of ‘editing’. Someone used these two pictures and used his photoshopping skills to make it look so cool.
