With widespread lockdowns in place because of the coronavirus pandemic, people have found themselves in a situation where all the activities that they took for granted were suddenly unavailable due to the need for social distancing.
Restaurants have closed, walking in the park is a regulated activity if not actively discouraged, and now there are long lines just to get in the supermarket.
But those are not the only things that people have had to do without because salons were among the businesses that were deemed non-essential and hence ordered to shut down. While there are people who may disagree with that assessment, especially those who tried to DIY their own haircuts at home, it does make sense. After all, one needs to be in close proximity with the beautician or barber in order for them to work their magic on one’s hair.
Since the coronavirus is also transmitted through the air, then the chances of getting infected are also high if either the customer or the hairstylist has the coronavirus. This is an important consideration because a lot of those with the coronavirus are asymptomatic, meaning they don’t display the common symptoms of the disease such as fever or coughing. Since they are already contagious if they go out in public the chances of them infecting other people are high.
Self-isolating at home is really the key to slowing down the spread of the virus but it doesn’t mean it’s convenient. There are people who can’t stand having long and uncut hair and have resorted to cutting their own hair (or having them cut by someone) at home. And these people quickly found out why you need to tip your barber or hairstylist because if anyone could do it, then we wouldn’t need barbershops in the first place!
Shared here are some of the most hilarious results of these hair-cutting forays that turned out differently from what they were expecting. The only saving grace is that at least they’re in lockdown so they don’t need to show their faces in public much. Plus, they can always grow their hair back and go to a real barber once lockdowns are lifted and non-essential businesses reopen!
