The authorities have identified the gunman behind the Orange shooting and released a photo of him to the public.
On Wednesday, a 44-year-old man from Fullerton opened fire inside an office complex in Orange, California, and killed four people, including a nine-year-old boy, in the process.
As the authorities have later confirmed, the suspect has been arrested and identified as Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez. The man reportedly lived at a motel and arrived at the scene of the shooting in a rental car.
Since the tragic shooting, the authorities have released the 44-year-old’s mugshot and a screenshot from surveillance footage taken inside the office complex where the mass shooting took place.
According to the Orange Police Department, Gonzalez knew all of his victims, whereas it is believed he had a personal or business relationship with the four people he shot dead.
“We feel for the families who believe their loved ones may be one of the victims,” Lt. Jennifer Amat said while the public is still waiting for the victims’ identities to be confirmed.
“Between all of the victims and the suspect, there was a personal and or business relationship.”
The police also revealed how the officers responding to the scene were forced to use bolt cutters to get inside the building after the 44-year-old chained the gates leading to the complex.
After apprehending the shooter, the police recovered an automatic handgun and a series of ammunition alongside handcuffs and pepper spray.
While the authorities have yet to confirm the identities of the victims, they have so far revealed that one of the victims was a 9-year-old boy.
“It appears a little boy died in his mother’s arms as she was trying to save him during this horrific massacre,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer previously said. Later, however, the police confirmed that the child died in the arms of a woman who was not his mother.
