Pigeons have been spotted wearing a tiny cowboy hat in Las Vegas, and the reason is not found yet.
A local man, Bobby Lee, posted a video of the pigeons on Facebook. In the video, two pigeons can be seen wearing the hats.
As you can see, the hats are not moving at all as the pigeon’s peck at the ground, it means they were glued to attach on them.
The video went viral after being posted on Twitter by Las Vegas Locally, several other photos of the pigeons wearing red hat posted online.
The hats have been on the pigeons for four days, and one local animal rescue group is very concerned about it.
Mariah Hillman, the co-founder of the Lofty Hopes pigeon rescue, said that she suspects the hats are attached to pigeon heads with superglue, she told Vice News.
“A friend of mine had tagged me in the video,” Hillman told BuzzFeed News.
“Originally our first thought is that’s kind of cute, then you’re like wait, those are real birds. How did they get those hats on?”
“Considering that they’re still on there days later, it seems to be pretty strong glue,” she said.
Hillman hopes to find the pigeons and safely remove the cowboy hats.
“We can use oil to un-attach glue, like when a rat gets caught in a sticky trap,” she added. “But then they have grease on them. It will probably take a while to get [the glue] off, whether they molt or we remove it.”
“It got a lot of attention fast,” Lee said of the video, which was published on December 5 and now has more than 73,000 views, to the New York Times. “The day after, I had a lot of news people texting me and people trying to buy my video.”
