The amazing video was caught on camera by Owen Leipelt while he was flying his light aircraft just off the coast of California.

In the event, Owen was filming his friend flying a small Beechcraft Bonanza as it fell right into the ocean near the Half Moon Bay.

Owen alerted Air Traffic Control about the accident and its location. He kept circling over the crash site, filming the ‘rescue’ operation being carried out by the victims on their own.

In a statement released to KRON4 and NBC, Lesh said: “I was probably 3,400 feet, did everything I could. I couldn’t get the motor running and put it into the Pacific.

“We skipped along the water for a few hundred feet and the impact was very minimal, it was not hard at all and we immediately opened the door and got out onto the wing. we took a quick inventory of what was in the plane.

“I grabbed my cell phone and the keys to the car. I knew we had about 20 or 30 seconds before it sunk.”

Pictures of the scene show the light aircraft slowly sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

The lively surviving duo laughed and took selfies as if they were enjoying the moment, before finally being rescued by a helicopter.

“There was sunfish. There was whales breaching around us. We just waited as long as we could on the wing. The plane went down, we got into the water.

“It’s time for someone else to enjoy it. I’ve got a new plane on the way, one that is faster and more capable, one that will facilitate my freedom and lust for punching holes in the sky.”
