Grayson Helgren, a young 13 months infant, is suffering from a rare heart condition called “Dilated Cardiomyopathy”.
Grayson was diagnosed with this condition when he was only 2 months old. Shannon Helgren, a a 24 years old mum of Grayson, is experiencing severe fear of losing his son as finding a donor is only hope for Grayson to survive.

The doctors have told Shannon about the condition of her son that he is unlikely to live beyond 2 years with this condition.
Dilated cardiomyopathy has resulted in the enlargement of one side of the heart, making it hard for heart to pump.
Grayson’s family is now under pressure of “ticking time bomb”.Shannon, from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, is a mum of four, explains how hard it is for her to see this condition of her son. She told that they had no idea how long Grayson will manage to survive without a new heart.
“It is a race against time”, but she is hopeful and does not want to give up.
Shannon was told that he will not make it to his second birthday.
But according to her, every day is a new day. When Grayson was born, her mum noticed that he was not breathing normally so they took him to the hospital where he was given antibiotics. After taking him to Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, a heart scan enabled doctors to diagnose his rare disease.
Doctors revealed his heart function was at 14 percent spent the next four months in hospital – two of which were in intensive care.
Shannon told that she called her family in order to get prepared to say goodbye if any donor is not found. Four months, she spends in the hospital were the horrible and the worst nightmare of her life. She was not able to eat or sleep as she was fearful about the consequences.
Grayson’s heart is only 14 percent functional, putting extra pressure on other organs too. He is not able to eat any solid food, so he is being fed through a tube and is currently on 10 different medications. Moreover, he often suffers from pneumonia, bronchitis and chest infections too.
Due to weekend immunity, Grayson often gets sick and spends his day sleeping. Grayson was put on the heart transplant list on Christmas Eve 2018 but so far a suitable organ has not been found. According to the NHS figures, in August last year, there were 280 people waiting for a heart transplant, including 29 children. As she is experiencing immense pressure and going through emotions, she has all his children signed up for organ donation.
She wants to see her boy grow up and go to school. She also wants him to live a normal happy life. But she is unaware of what is going to happen tomorrow, although she strongly believes that every day is a new day.
