Speed bumps are made with an intention to slow down the heavy flow of traffic on busy roads.
They normally have a minimum height of 75mm. speed bumps made in Britain are said to be the most pointed speed bumps ever made in history.
The local residents have lashed out on the contractors who made these pointless bumps. Residents said that these bumps are pathetic and useless.
Residents of Norwich blasted and said that these bumps are of low height and upon measuring they came out to be just 35mm tall.
These bumps are made on 20mph roads throughout the city in Norfolk and do not hold a tendency to slow down any of the fast traffic.
It is confirmed by the council officers of Norwich that these bumps are not made according to the required length and have further confirmed that these will be corrected and renewed by the contractor’s Tarmac who have made them.
These bumps will certainly affect those who live there, regularly pass by these roads or the ones who have businesses here. The general public gets affected by these speed bumps as they half of the length of actual speed bumps.
Simon Davey who is 37 years old and a manager of the Duke Wellington pub on waterloo road along with his colleague Chris Isgate criticized these bumps as the most pointless bumps as they do not slow down the traffic.
These bumps were made under a scheme of 320,000 pounds which was to surface the roads along with improving the cycle paths.
These bumps were made near Angel road and on waterloo road. As these bumps have gone wrong so the council chiefs have made an announcement that these will be renewed and due to which road will be closed.
The closure of roads will affect the business and as the roads are narrow so it will further aggravate the situation.
Moreover, Simon said that these closures will affect the City of Ale festival and it will become difficult to host the visitors.
But the contractors have confirmed that they are going to redo the work so in order to work on the speed bumps so they have told the closure timings and that is from Tuesday till Friday from 7 am to 7 pm.
Residents have lashed out on contractors as pathetic and ridiculous. Whereas it will affect transport as transporter said they are disappointed in this kind of behavior.
The contractor Tarmac said that they apologize for the inconvenience and will cover the cost of the work as well.
