Police are searching for 22-year-old Brandon Spurrell after he was accidentally released because of an administrative error, according to the National Post.
The dangerous child predator was awaiting trial for making death threats and sexual assault when he was mistakenly released, and now he is roaming free.
Authorities are now looking for the convict, who was found guilty at the trial and should’ve remained in custody.
A public statement has been issued describing Spurrell as ‘dangerous.’ The physical description also states that he is white, 160 pounds and about 5’10”. He has blue eyes and short black hair.
“Please do not approach him,” it added. The statement did not mention his convictions and charges but maintained that Spurrell was required to attend ongoing court matters.
It was in 2016 when Spurrell was arrested for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. Two years later, he was convicted and sentenced to two years in jail for raping a minor.
In 2019, he was released on parole but was arrested again for another sexual assault. He also has car theft charges to his name. Authorities have also mentioned that he has used many other aliases including Zane O’Connor and Eric Galloway.
The Ministry of the Attorney General said: “The Ministry of the Attorney General takes this situation very seriously and is working with our justice partners to carefully review the circumstances that led to this release.”
The Ministry also said in a statement that “upon learning about the release of the accused, steps were taken to notify the victims and ensure their safety.”
