Police Dog That Was Sacked For “Being Too Soft” Finds a New Job At Airport


Generally, police dogs have to be courageous and brave, so that they can help the police force to resolve the intricacies of the cases.

A former police dog was retorted being “too soft” for the police force. But gradually, things got better, and now he has acquired a better role that suited him.

Ozzie was brought up and trained by Queensland Police Service in 2018. He was a part of the litter, and during the training sessions, the trainers found that the 18-month-old pooch is not as aggressive as the police dogs should.

Later they declared that Ozzie was not the right fit for the police force. He was not very fond of chasing the criminals or take part in any police activity. Instead, he loved playing around and chasing the birds.

But his leisure activities have led him to fetch the right kind of job. Today Ozzie works at Brisbane Airport, where the officials were looking for an ideal predator.

Now living with his new handler, Jackson Ring, Ozzie’s new job is to scare away the birds from the busy areas of the airport. Ozzie has helped the airport official to reduce the chances of birds being caught inside the plane engines.

Earlier, the airport was using cars with sirens to ward off the birds. As a result, birds became assimilated into the sounds. So, they thought of bringing in a predator that can literally scare away the birds.

Since Ozzie has joined his duty, birds are actually scared to come near the planes that have enabled take-off and landing process much easier for the pilots.

Though Ozzie might not have showcased the skills as a police dog, his expertise is being well utilized by the Brisbane Airport.
