The police got involved in a low-speed chase after a giant tortoise escaped its enclosure and fled its home.

While speed may not be its best quality, Titan the tortoise managed to cross over one mile across the town before it was spotted by shocked passersby.
Following reports of an escaped animal, the police intervened and managed to catch up with the tortoise whose escape plan came crashing down after several officers closed in on it.
Once the authorities spotted Titan, three officers struggled to lift the giant and transfer it into their van before taking it back home.
As 35-year-old Richard Aston, Titan’s owner, revealed since the mysterious escape of his pet, he has no idea how Titan managed to flee because the enclosure is still intact.
“Maybe he teleported there. There was no sign of the fence being broken and he can’t jump over it – it’s 3ft high,” Aston says.
Meanwhile, the police saw the hilarious side of the incident as they called the ‘arrest’ slow justice and suggested that Titan was “too large for the van cell so had to travel wagon side.”
“Thanks again to vigilant members of public in locating this absconder,” Suffolk Police wrote in their post as they shared photos of their catch.
After the issue was resolved, it was confirmed that Titan is an African sulcata, also known as the African spurred tortoise, one of the largest tortoise species in the world. Members of the species can weigh up to 110 pounds and can measure 2.5 feet when fully grown.
