On June 1, a police officer was patrolling Daytona Beach, Florida, with his cruiser when a black Mitsubishi came blasting by at high speed.
With the car clearly going over the speed limit, the cop had no chance but to follow the suspect. Then, as the driver of the black vehicle rolled down the window to apologize, he said something that had the cop help him speed through.

Not only that, but the cop also called for backup to make the escort safer.
And how heavy was the reason behind this movie-like action? 8 pounds and 12 ounces to be precise.

The driver of the black car was rushing to the hospital because his wife was in labor and close to giving birth. After realizing that he was seen by the police, however, he had no chance but to explain himself.
Fortunately, the kind officer understood his reason for speeding and decided to help him do it safely.
“We were on Nova, and sped past the cop. I said, ‘Please don’t get pulled over or we’re not going to make it to the hospital before I give birth,’” Cassidy Kennedy, the driver’s wife recalled.
The cop, however, had no intentions of pulling them over after learning about their situation. “He turned on his lights, yelled out the window ‘Let’s go!’ then it just got crazy,” the couple said. He also called in and requested backup.

As another officer joined him, the two cops cleared the intersection for the couple and escorted them to the hospital.
“It was like being in a movie,” Cassidy said, “I’m not gonna lie. It was really exciting!”

Luckily, the couple arrived at the hospital in time. A few minutes later, healthy and happy baby Summer was born.
“There’s no doubt about it,” Richie, Cassidy’s husband, said that without police escort, “the baby would have been in the front seat of the car!”
The story was soon picked up by the media and days later the couple met the officers on TV together with baby summer to discuss what had happened that day.
