Two cops have been arrested after they took a selfie with the corpses of two sisters who had been killed in Fryent County Park in northwest London.
47-year-old Bibba Henry and her half-sister 26-year-old Nicole Smallman were found dead in the park two days after they were reported missing.
Two Metropolitan Police Constables have been arrested after they allegedly took a selfie with the bodies and shared the photo on WhatsApp.
According to reports, Nicole and Bibbaa were killed after celebrating Bibba’s birthday with their friends. A man attacked the sisters with a knife in the early hours of June 6.
Their bodies were discovered next to each other, with a post-mortem examination showing that they had both passed away from stab wounds.
“It is so disturbing that it is just unthinkable. To take a selfie with two dead women and then to share that with a forum on a Whatsapp group it makes you wonder just whats going on and what these officers have been up to previously,” Dawn Butler MP told Channel 4.
Senior officers also said they were ‘disgusted’ and ‘horrified’ by the allegations, and said the sisters’ grieving parents have been informed.
The two police officers have been suspended from duty as the investigation continues.
Sal Naseem, IOPC Director for London, said, “These are sickening allegations and when we were made aware by the Metropolitan Police, we acted quickly to arrest the officers involved in order to seize vital evidence.
“The victims’ family are naturally extremely distressed at this turn of events and we are ensuring that they are updated as our investigation is progressing.”
Investigators said the suspect, who is thought to have left the scene via the Valley Drive entrance, received injuries during the attack. Authorities also believe that it is possible people may have stumbled upon relevant items but did not realized their significance.
“Following our most recent appeal we received over 100 calls from members of the public who provided information which my officers are now in the process of going through,” said Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding.
“We are very thankful for this response, and want it to continue. Extensive searches are ongoing at the scene and we are discovering more evidence all the time.
“Any motive for the murders remains unknown, and we are exploring all possibilities.”
