On March 13, 2020, 26-year-old Breonna Taylor was proclaimed dead after the Louisville Metro Police broke into her home, based on a search warrant obtained amid a drug probe, and shot her several times.
According to the reports, the police were shot at by Kenneth Walker, Taylor’s boyfriend, who allegedly thought that the officers who forced their way into the home were burglars.

Amid the exchange of gunfire, Taylor, who was unarmed during the raid, was shot eight times.
Now, three months after the death of the young woman, the police have finally released a report on the night of the incident only for the papers to be near-complete blank and present little accurate information.

According to the documents, the 26-year-old sustained no injuries despite the fact that she was shot eight times. In addition, the police stated there was no forced entry even though pictures suggested that the officers used a battering ram to crush the door before entering.
After the report has been released, officials and activists have called for charges to be pressed against the officers involved and slammed the police for what some believe to be a cover-up.

Lashing out at the “unacceptable” report that came in months late was also Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer who said:
“It’s issues like this that erode public confidence in LMPD’s ability to do its job, and that’s why I’ve ordered an external top-to-bottom review of the department. I am sorry for the additional pain to the Taylor family and our community.”
Following Taylor’s unwarranted death, the mayor has also suspended no-knock search warrants and pushed for their ban.
“I suspended use of these warrants indefinitely last month, and wholeheartedly agree with council that the risk to residents and officers with this kind of search outweigh any benefit,” he shared in one of his tweets.
In addition to the no-knock searches getting banned, the new legislation also requires all officers present during search warrants to wear a bodycam.
