A politician was left embarrassed after his press conference was streamed live with the cat filter on, giving him feline ears and whiskers!
The Facebook online stream of regional minister Shaukat Yousafzai of Pakistan talking with journalists quickly went viral after his social media team accidentally turned on the filter on Facebook.
Facebook users saw whiskers and pink feline ears on the heads of the minister and other two Pakistan officials as they took part in the event.
One Facebook user commented: “There’s a cat in the cabinet.” Another said: “Shaukat Yousafzai looks like a cat – Meow meow meow!”
The video was removed from the Facebook page of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party minutes after the press conference. However, photos from the live stream were still circulating the internet.
Yousafzai said that it happened by accident. “The cat filter was turned on by mistake. Let’s not take everything so seriously.”
He also joked: “I wasn’t the only one – two officials sitting along me were also hit by the cat filter.”
The Facebook live stream continued with the ears and whiskers in place even after Facebook users pointed out the error.
According to a statement released by the PTI social media team, it occurred because of “human error.” It said: “All necessary actions have been taken to avoid such incidents in future.”
One internet user said: “It certainly makes politics a little less serious, which is good sometimes.”
Another commented: “This is amazing! I think all of our forthcoming political debates should be streamed like this- I mean, let’s be honest, it wouldn’t make our politicians look any more ridiculous than they already are!”
A third wrote: “I love this!!!!!”
