Dozens of ponies swam across a channel on Virginia’s Eastern Shore during the annual Chincoteague Pony Swim.
People watched the ponies of Maryland’s Assateague State Park swim across a channel on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
Onlooker Erin Rosati was at the beach when she spotted the ponies heading into the water.
She filmed the incredible moment that shows four ponies wading into the surf.
“The ponies frequent the beach, but they rarely go into the water that deep,” she told Storyful.
The first one to reach the shore is named King or Queen Neptune every year.
Some of the ponies will be auctioned to raise money for the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company.
While other ponies will head back into the wild.
