This is the adorable moment when a dog decided that he wasn’t going to go on a walk if he couldn’t bring his stuffed toy with him.
Just like a child who won’t go anywhere without dragging his teddy bear along with him, this dog just refuses to let go despite repeated pleas from his owner.
The owner is both amused and frustrated at 8-year-old Henrik as he refuses to part with his beloved toy.

She even tries gently pulling the toy away from Henrik in a bid to take it from his mouth but the pooch just pulls back and communicates in no uncertain terms that he wants his toy. It’s clear that he also wants to go for a walk but he also wanted his toy with him which his owner refuses to bring.
In the end, the owner tells Henrik that they’re not going for a walk if the dog was going to insist on bringing the toy animal with him.point 223 |

Dogs certainly have different personalities just like people do. Some dogs go for balls, some want toys that produce sounds, while others may prefer to play with the couch and the furniture. But stuffed animals certainly rank high among the toys that dogs get attracted to. It probably has something to do with the nature of the dog.
Wild dogs are akin to wolves and have always liked to hunt. And after making a kill, they tend to carry their kill in their mouths. So the act of carrying around a stuffed toy is probably a holdover from this hunter’s trait among dogs.
One other behavior that may trigger a dog’s attraction for stuffed toys is by separating a puppy from its mother too soon.point 412 |
This may lead to the instinctive behavior of sucking and kneading a stuffed animal as a memory reaction from when it was a puppy.point 106 | It’s a comforting activity for them and you can consider it as a normal reaction even when they reach maturity.point 204 | 1
If your dog is like Henrik who just loves stuffed animals, it may be better to choose something small enough to easily fit in the mouth and carry around though not small enough to accidentally swallow. If your dog likes to shake and “kill” their stuffed toy, getting a larger and more durable one is recommended.
