Popeyes’ Chicken Sandwich-Themed Ugly Christmas Sweaters All Sold Out In Hours


The Popeyes chicken sandwich went viral immediately after debuting in August.

It’s crispy patty nestled between two brioche buns, was enough for customers to lined up around the store.

After just two weeks, the chain decided to stop selling Popeyes chicken sandwich due to its high demand and lack of staff. Popeyes announced the temporary removal of the dish in a video.

Now, it is returned two months later. The Popeyes Ugly Christmas Sweater, made in collaboration with UglyChristmasSweater.com. and it’s sandwich-themed. The food chain brand wants to create a festive holiday look. It was $45 per sweater.

UglyChristmasSweater.com claimed that all the sweaters were sold out in 14 hours.

Popeyes also joined the fun after a banana that was a piece of art and duct-taped to a wall at a Miami Beach Art Fair was sold for $120,000 to a private art collector.

Datuna, told PEOPLE, “It was delicious…I asked the gallery for another, and they said no. I’m not sorry about what I did. I’m happy.”

After the banana that received attention, it’s a Popeyes sandwich taped to another white canvas included in another art festival. It was officially named “The Sandwich” was valued at $120,003.99. It is described on Instagram as mixed media consisting of a “toasted brioche bun, two pickles, fried chicken, mayo, duct tape on canvas.”

“Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen quickly jumped on the hype related to one of Art Basel’s most notable installations of the year, just hours after some debate-triggering art went viral, a Popeyes spokesperson told a website in a statement via email, adding that the artwork was made in partnership with San Paul Gallery of Urban Art.”

According to Fox News, all the profits from the sale of The Sandwich will go Popeyes Foundation, a “non-profit organization that works for communities with food and support in times of need.”

“Don’t eat the art. Even though it’s delicious. Go see our masterpiece ‘The Sandwich’ at @SanPaulgallery for #ArtBasel,” the chain tweeted.
