A postman is bringing smiles on people’s faces by delivering them posts in fancy character outfits.
In these times when everyone is bored of being locked down in their homes, such a lively appearance by a postman certainly means a lot.
Receiving a letter is itself a pleasant surprise for many people, this postie further adds to their delight by presenting himself in amusing dresses and makeup.
So far, Jon Matson has appeared in a range of different characters such as a gladiator and Little Bo Peep.
Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Jon said: “Everyone is uncertain at the moment and you are the only person outside of the family that they see, so why not give them something to smile about?”
Revealing how it feels after bringing mails as well as laughter to the residents in lockdown, he added: “It’s really nice to see people come out to see me. Seeing everybody helps me keep my spirits up too.”
The people of Boldon, England are extremely happy with the 39-year-old and are grateful for his efforts to help keep them laughing.
A resident living by Jon’s route said: “Jon is sending such a positive message to the residents that this virus is not all doom and gloom and even our key workers who are still out there doing their jobs to keep the nation running and saving lives can do it in good spirit and with a sense of pride and humor.
“I’m proud that Jon is my postman and I can’t wait to see his next costume.”
In case you’re wondering about how Jon can afford wearing new costumes every other day, he is an active participant in Cancer Connections Boxing Day Dip.
He takes part in the event, meant to raise funds for Cancer Connections, every year and that’s how he has his wardrobe filled up with incredible dresses.
Since Jon never reveals what his next suit is going to be like, the townspeople are often found at their windows waiting to see him.
Keep up the good work, Jon.
