A woman has been jailed after attacking her husband with a knife in retaliation for his prank.
Marcelina Tomusiak is a mother-of-three from Poland who stabbed her husband with a long and sharp knife after his prank sent her out of control.
The incident took place in September 2019 when Jacob Tomusiak was attempting to prank his wife by deflating the tires on her car before her scheduled day trip.
After Marcelina caught her husband in the act, she became furious and proceeded to grab a knife in an attempt to puncture the tires on Jacob’s vehicle. The knife, however, broke, resulting in the woman becoming even more infuriated by her husband’s prank.
The wife then walked back into their home only to grab a “longer and sharper” knife. After coming back outside, Marcelina attacked her husband with the knife and injured his hand in the process.
After the bizarre incident, the mother-of-three has been sentenced to two years in prison, whereas her partner was left unable to work due to his injuries. The couple also faced losing custody of their children.
“You were angry and frustrated and as he [Jacob] walked alongside the passenger side of his car, he said something,” Judge William Mousley QC said during the sentencing.
“You then looked at him and launched yourself at him, with the knife, holding it above your head in your right hand and swinging it violently towards him on a number of occasions.”
“He then turned and was seen to react in pain and arch his back. He pushed you to the ground and you, at that stage, specifically cut his hand with the knife that you were continuing to swing in his direction.”
Following Marcelina’s conviction, the woman claimed she and her husband were not in a good place and were on the verge of divorce at the time of the incident.
Her husband, however, insisted that the attack left him unable to work and forced him into selling his car to survive.
