Chris Pratt admits feeling “upset and depressed” after facing heavy backlash for sharing a controversial post about his wife and their “healthy daughter”.
Chris Pratt has spoken on Instagram for the first time after sharing a controversial post. In an Instagram story, the actor said he had been feeling “upset” after being widely criticized online.
“I went to bed last night really kind of upset and depressed and I woke up feeling crappy and I didn’t want to work out,” the actor said on Instagram. “I didn’t want to.”
“I knew though that if I put on my Christian music playlist and I got out in the woods and ran that I’d feel better, but I just didn’t want to, and I did it anyways, and gosh, was I right,” he added. “It felt amazing. I got out in the woods, got my blood pumping.”
“And God like sat down there right next to me,” the actor continued. “I don’t get emotional that often but I actually got emotional out in the woods, it felt like there was another in the fire standing next to me.”
He said he was referencing a song lyric from one of the Christian songs he had been listening to at the tim.
“That moment, it really captured me and so I just want to say, all glory to God,” he said.
While Pratt didn’t openly reference the criticism, he continued to explain that he’d forced himself to return to a positive mindset through his faith in God.
He then recommended to his followers if they are feeling down to listen to some worship music and get active.
“Get some exercise, maybe listen to some good worship music and or maybe get the word in because it really helped me this morning,” Pratt said.
On Tuesday, Pratt, took to Instagram to dedicate a post to his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt writing: “Guys. For real. Look how she’s looking at me! I mean. Find you somebody that looks at you like that!!”
“You know!? We met in church. She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter, she chews so loudly that sometimes I put in my earbuds to drown it out, but that’s love!” he added.
Fans lashed out at the actor for celebrating the “gorgeous healthy daughter” he has with his wife, as they interpreted that line as a dig at the son he shares with ex Anna Faris, who suffered from health issues after birth.
Pratt and Faris, who were married from 2009 to 2018, have both spoken openly about Jack’s birth in the past. Jack was born nine weeks before Faris’ due date in August 2012. He was two months premature weighing just 1.7kg, he suffered from severe brain bleeding and had to undergo “a few surgeries”.
While he didn’t suffer permanent damage as a result of being born early, Anna and Chris had a nervous 18-month wait to get that diagnosis.
Many fans believe it was offensive to brag about having a “gorgeous healthy daughter”. The social media’s uproar about the issue was so strong that Faris was trending on Twitter as fans showed her love and support.
Pratt and Faris split in August 2017, and he married Schwarzenegger almost two years later. Their daughter was born in August 2020.
