A pregnant bride has collapsed to the ground and tragically passed away just moments before reaching the altar and her beloved groom.
30-year-old Jessica Guedes, who worked as a nurse, was just about to tie the knot with the love of her life, Flavio Gonçalvez, in front of their families and their child when she collapsed to the ground and never got back up.
While the young mother’s family initially thought she was just experiencing some anxiety before the wedding when she reported feeling dizzy, the emergency services concluded she suffered a severe stroke that ended her life.
Following the woman’s collapse, she was rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared her brain dead and delivered her baby via C-section. They also confirmed that the woman was suffering from preeclampsia which resulted in a stroke.
As the family revealed, firefighter Flavio was shocked when a relative came rushing to the altar pleading for help. When the groom made it to his bride, she told him she was fine even though she had been experiencing severe neck pain.
“I was worried because I was waiting for her at the altar and she was taking ages to come in. A cousin of hers ran down the carpet and told me that she had passed out,” Flavio recalled in an interview with Crescer.
“I opened the car door and she was lying down but regained consciousness to talk to me. I said to her, ‘Baby, I’m here.’ She replied that everything was fine, but that she had severe pain in the back of her neck.”
Unfortunately, Jessica was declared brain dead when she arrived at the hospital.
Following her tragic passing, the 31-year-old husband said:
“Jessica was a really cheerful person who loved life, an enlightened and strong being of light. I was so looking forward to becoming her husband and becoming a father. I will be strong and I will not weaken in the face of adversity.
“The love of my life taught me how to respect and treat a woman well so that I could learn how to take care of our daughter. I still can’t believe this has happened. It seems like I’m in a sad movie, and you cry, cry, cry, but leave the movie theatre knowing it was just a movie.
“However, in my case, the movie will never be over, and the suffering will go on forever.”
