A 22-year-old pregnant mother died with her two children in a crash in North St.
Louis County.
Kristy Monroe, her two-year-old son, and baby daughter were killed in a horror crash alongside the driver and father of Kristy’s children Travon Nelson and his 16-year-old brother.
Travon was driving his ex-girlfriend, Kristy’s 2002 Toyota RAV4 when the car was rear-ended by a Nissan truck in North St. Louis County.
Travon and Kristy’s children – Travon Jr., two, and daughter Kaniya, seven-months – were in the backseat with their 16-year-old uncle Samuel.
Samuel and Travon’s mother Kennesa Thompson is shattered after the tragic death of her sons. She said it was the worst Mother’s Day of her life and she didn’t think she would spend it like this.
She told Five On Your Side: “It was the worst Mother’s Day of my life. What a way to spend it. I’m just at a loss for words. It hurts.”
Travon has been described as a loving father by his family.
After the tragic accident, Yolanda Talley called 911 and the family members were left devastated after hearing the news of the tragic death of Kristy, Travon, their children, and Travon’s brother Samuel.
Kristy was pregnant at the time she was killed in the horror crash.
Yolanda told KMOV4: “Oh, my God. I have been crying ever since. I heard the screams. I hear it every time somebody dies out here.”
A witness named Anton Meyer described the moment as horrible and said they tried to save them but they couldn’t be saved.
The 54-year-old driver of the 2013 Nissan, Larry Boyd, is also fighting for his life in the hospital.
Later, the Police revealed the family was wearing seatbelts at the time of the horror crash.
