A proud mother was left with tears in her eyes as she graduated from university seven years after she has fallen pregnant.
21-year-old Rachael Campey was just 14 when she fell pregnant and was forced to leave her education behind and focus on becoming a mother.
Despite her early pregnancy, however, Rachael never forgot about her dreams to graduate from Leeds Trinity University.
Following six years after she gave birth, the proud mother took to the graduation ceremony and picked up her counseling psychology degree.
“I just felt a lot of completion throughout the day. I felt overwhelming love and pride from my family, and from myself, as well as my daughter,” the England-based mum said.
As Rachael added, her daughter’s smile on the graduation day “made it all worthwhile” even though she developed anxiety while working, studying, and being a mother all at the same time.
According to the 21-year-old, her little girl, Lily-Rose, was filled with joy and was “smiling all day long.”
“When I was writing my dissertation, she was doing homework at the side of me, so she gets how long a process it has been,” Rachael added.
“They accidentally pronounced my surname wrong when I went onto the stage to collect my degree, and I heard her correct them and say ‘that’s my mummy.’”
Following all of her hard work, the young mother was not only praised by her family and friends but also nominated for the 2020 Yorkshire Choice award.
As she now hopes, she will be able to find a job that will allow her to provide for her daughter and spend more time with her.
