A hardworking pregnant mother-of-two was in for a surprise of her life after a self-made millionaire stepped into surprise and reward the mum for her efforts to keep her family well-fed.
The story of Tami Forbes first came to light in The Profit TV show in which millionaire Marcus Lemonis invests money in small businesses to help them get back on their feet.
Lemonis, who knows that treating employees fairly is crucial to the long-term success of businesses, met Tami in 2015 when she was pregnant with her third child.
Rather than being on maternity leave, however, the single mum was working two demanding jobs with a minimal pay to feed her family.
Ms. Forbes, who now owns the Key West Key Lime Pie Company, was doing everything from marketing to inventory for $300 per week when Lemonis first encountered her. In addition, she was also working as a bartender to make ends meet.
“I’m gonna need your help before you leave. I gotta get some stuff done and you’re gonna be our leader here,” the businessman told the upset mother in the video. “In order for you to have good piece of mind, I wanted to give you some money.”
Following his offer, the mother broke down in tears before Lemonis told her she would receive six months’ worth of salary.
“It means everything, knowing that I have a salary when I come back — a salary that I can live on, and still save money… I’ve never had that,” the mother replied.
However, the entrepreneur wasn’t done rewarding Tami just yet. Lemonis told the grateful mother she would be receiving $1,000 per week after her return to her work so that she would no longer be forced to bartend on the side to make ends meet!
