Mariesa and Chris are avid dog lovers.
They have dedicated their lives to fostering and rehoming homeless dogs. Through their work, they’ve accrued quite a dog family of their own.
That’s why when they met a pregnant pit bull named Storie, they weren’t hesitant to take her in.
Storie was living in a county shelter and was late in her pregnancy. She had not gone into labor yet, and the couple was worried about her well-being having to give birth in a kennel.
As Chris said, “Dogs having puppies at shelters, it’s not the best thing for them. It’s stressful for her, stressful for the puppies.”

The couple could not leave Storie. They decided to take her home even though they knew they could not add another dog to their family. They at least wanted to provide her with a safe place to give birth.
But the couple did not realize they were in for a big surprise—a bigger one than they intended.
Upon taking her from the shelter, the couple brought her to the vet for an ultrasound to check on her overall health and the status of her pregnancy. The vet delivered some incredible news.
Not only was Storie pregnant, she was pregnant with a total of 12 puppies.

Mariesa and Chris were not prepared for a litter that size. Their home was already bursting at the seams and they couldn’t imagine adding 13 more to their family. But they wanted to help Storie.
In spite of the shock, the two set up a comfortable spot for Storie to finish out her pregnancy. The couple expected to wait a bit before delivering the pups, but they were in for yet another surprise.
Just 18 hours after taking her home, Storie gave birth.

The video below shows the incredibly cute dozen pit bull puppies and their happy mom. Thanks to the help of Mariesa and Chris, Storie gave birth to twelve healthy dogs.
While the two couldn’t open their home to Storie and her babies permanently, they worked to find forever homes for all of them. A close friend of theirs adopted Storie, and they found homes for each puppy through a collaboration with Pibbles and More Animal Rescue.
