A pregnant woman has been warned by netizens after opening up about the bizarre demands her boyfriend had made.
As an anonymous mother-to-be explained in her Reddit post, she wanted to know if she was overreacting by thinking her boyfriend was in the wrong after he demanded she changes her appearance and puts more effort into her looks during her pregnancy.
According to the woman, she is still in the early stages of pregnancy, whereas she constantly feels sick and is suffering from back pain.
“I feel sick all the time, throw up and my back kills. I know it will get better but right now I hate how I’m feeling lol,” she wrote.
To better cope with the side effects she’s experiencing, the Redditor started wearing comfortable, loose clothes rather than slim-fit shirts and pants she would normally wear. In addition, she stopped paying too much attention to her hair and gave up on make-up.
While she didn’t think much of her new lifestyle, the same can’t be said for the pregnant woman’s boyfriend who demanded she puts more effort into her appearance.
“My boyfriend today has said that he wishes I would take better care of myself and ‘not go out looking like a mess and a farmer’s daughter’ whatever that means?” the mom-to-be added.
“He says I’m not looking attractive when I don’t bother and he wants me to start putting more of an effort into myself.”
After the upset girlfriend retaliated, her boyfriend allegedly told her he was merely making a suggestion when he questioned her appearance.
Following the woman’s complaint on Reddit, fellow netizens were quick to bash the ‘insensitive’ boyfriend and suggest he cares more about her looks than what she’s going through.
“From a guy’s perspective; it’s weird that he doesn’t find his wife, the mother of his child, attractive without make-up and a dress… more attractive with that, sure, but not attractive at all without it? That raises an eyebrow,” someone wrote.
“From an outsider’s point of view, and purely my humble opinion, it seems like he values you more on your looks than the fact you are growing a human inside of you and that does take a toll on your body,” another one said.
Meanwhile, plenty of other users urged the pregnant girlfriend to take care and to be wary of the ‘red flags’ her boyfriend is raising.
