The Bidens’ have tragically announced the demise of their pet dog ‘Champ’ who spent 13 long years of companionship with the family.
The famous German Shepherd died peacefully this morning at the age of 13 at their family home. Moreover, the Bidens announced the heartbreaking news via a public statement to the press that stated how their hearts were very heavy, while they paid great tribute to the pup.
The Bidens called ‘Champ’ their loving companion who not only spent his whole life with the family but also supported them through their most joyful moments as well as their most grief-stricken days.
Both Jill and Joe Biden were heartbroken as they revealed how they got Champ as a puppy in the year 2008, right after Joe Biden became vice president under Barack Obama’s administration.
As far as his name is concerned, the Bidens also spoke about how they had chosen the name on the recommendation and suggestions of their beautiful grandchildren, who adored the pup, just like other members from the Biden family.
Champ also moved in with the Bidens to the White House in the month of January of this year, alongside the family’s famous 3-year-old rescue dog named Major.
The President of the US says he will miss his beloved companion the most, which he revealed in a grief-stricken Tweet.
“Our dear family has lost one of our most loving companions named Champ today,” the President wrote. “I will miss him dearly forever,” he added towards the end of his sad message.
In the same way, First Lady of the US, Dr. Jill Biden, also paid her tribute to her little pooch, mentioning her sentiments via another Tweet. Here, she wrote, “RIP our sweet and good boy Champ. We will miss you forever and always.”
The Bidens claim that Champ was one of their most cherished companions who will be missed dearly because he was adored to a great extent by all.
