The Biden administration is planning to roll out a set of laws pertaining to gun violence and their attempts to control what has been happening around the nation.
There is an overall push from the White House in order to cease past and upcoming homicides that have been present for the last six months.
The president has plans to release his crime prevention strategy this upcoming Wednesday, which touches upon the details of an issue that has defined his political career and affects the Democratic party heavily based on his choices.
Biden has had debates over alternate ways to surpass the increasing crime rates, passing a major anti-crime legislation over three decades when he was a Senator. He has passed these back in 1994, including the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act.
He has touched upon parts of a 358 page bill that includes the Violence Against Women Act, and the Community Oriented Policing Services program. These services are now expired, and he has expressed his regret for not being able to help those who have been affected heavily by the gun violence happening around the country.
Biden has also promised to take actions on gun control when he had been a presidential candidate. Now that he is in power, he has tried to push for policies but is lacking the support from Senate Republicans because they would have to back up any gun bill he is trying to enforce. They have also delayed confirmation of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives advocate.
The president has tried to strengthen regulation on “ghost guns” that are untraceable and handguns that can be fired with the same accuracy of a rifle. He will continue to discuss his plans this Wednesday.
