Chick – Fil – A had just opened their very first outlet in the UK and now they are ready to pack it up as well.
It had just been over a week that the very first outlet of the company had opened in the UK, but following the protest and the negative response from the LGBTQ community and the activists working in the protests and right holdings, the mall has decided not to extend the lease agreement of the restaurant which for now is only for 6 months.
BBC reports that the Gay community has launched a boycott against the restaurant chain as the very first outlet of the restaurant opened in The Oracle shopping center on 10 October.
As per the report given by BBC, a spokesperson from The Oracle shopping center had come forward to say that the right and fair thing following the boycott by the gay community was to protect the restaurant chain from getting indulged into the business and that is why they had to stick to the lease agreement they had rather than extending it.
The spokesperson of the shopping center said that although they try to bring in new traditions and concepts in the market, they are going to stick with just a 6-month agreement with Chick – Fil – A as that is the right thing to do as community demands it.
Although the restaurant will not be running in the future, they still have 6 months of time in the market.
The employees who had switched jobs to join Chick – Fil – A will have a sufficient period of time of 6 months to get new jobs so that they do not suffer from any trouble.
The hate and protest against Chick – Fil – A started back in 2012 and it looks like people even after 7 long years, are still not ready to move on from it.
