When you get a dog, you get a companion for many years.
You bond together and grow deep affection. It’s a relationship that only other dog owners will ever understand.
Dogs are often referred to as “man’s best friend” for a reason. When the world is dark and lonely, your dog will be the light that gets you through. The bond that you create with them can often rival the best friendship.
But for anyone who has lived with dogs for years, you know the dark and painful truth that you will have to let that four legged best friend go.

The dark side to being a dog owner is that you will always outlive your canine best friend. Letting your furry friend go never gets any easier, but the love and memories you create will give you the strength to move through it and make it worth it, in the end.
The latest tragically sweet tale comes from a woman who documented her dog’s perfect last day on Snapchat, and then posted the photos to the photo-sharing site Imgur.
When we went through this gallery we were tearing up and using the closest tissue box.
In a post entitled “Dogs are too amazing to let go, but sometimes it happens and they will forgive you,” a young woman tells of her painful, but joyous experience of letting her doggy best friend go.
The posts explains that her poor dog, Hannah, had been suffering from seizures. The medication helped, but she struggled to get up stairs or even walk at times. The woman was worried keeping her on the medication was selfish and decided to give her one last hoo-rah day of pampering before letting her go.
You can tell from the pictures that Hannah has lived a long, happy life.
If you’ve ever had to make the impossibly hard decision to put down your beloved friend, you will know how painful this experience must have been. Still this day of pampering makes it just a little bit easier to say goodbye.
Still the decision is made with the dog’s well being in mind. It’s better for them to live a happy life than to live slightly longer, but more painful.
No one can judge someone for the decision they make when putting down their beloved canine friend.
But Hannah had an amazing day in store for her! First, to the doggie salon!
First Hannah was given a lovely bath with an incredibly relaxing aromatherapy and spa treatment!
Oh, what luxury!
After she was all dried and cleaned up, the wonderful people at the puppy salon gave Hannah a special little heart shaped beauty mark to show how much she was loved and appreciated by everyone around her. She must’ve felt like an extra-special little princess with that big beautiful heart.
Now we’re leaving the salon, all pampered relaxed and beautiful. Oh and we got a lovely bandana to wear that tells the world how beautiful we are! Hannah’s huge smile tells the world that shw knows it too!
Hannah was then treated with a long car ride in the front seat, watching the world fly by. Any dog lover will tell you how much their dog loves to sit in the front seat.
However the day wasn’t over and the two stopped at a McDonald’s drive-thru for a special treat – a hamburger for the lovely Hannah!

Hannah is definitely enjoying this treat, especially being handfed by her bestest friend in the whole world!
Now that we’re all clean and fed it’s time to meet up with the family one last time. Everyone is sure to give her extra special attention and pets as a final goodbye from everyone.
They make sure to get a lot of photos to remember Hannah by.
It isn’t easy to say goodbye, but just by this final hoo-rah we can see that Hannah was truly loved by her owner. It’s incredibly tough to say goodbye to a friend you loved.
The kids also took pictures with the lovely girl. This picture is likely to be treasured by them for years to come, even if they don’t appear too happy in the picture. This picture will serve as a reminder for all of the happy memories they had with Hannah.
It’s not just humans that Hannah needs to say her goodbyes to, either. Her best buddy also needs one last play date!
Hannah looks just like a puppy, playing with doggy buddy. The huge smile, the glint in her eye. She is so happy to play again.

Relaxing after a fun play, the two dogs lay down to cool off! Enjoying their last visit together.
After all that fun playing, it’s time for a bit of relaxation alone, laying on the cool deck.
While she takes a little rest, Mom decides to give another little spa treatment – painted nails!
Just look how pretty she is with her beautiful pedicure.
As it’s Hannah’s last day, she should get to feel as pretty as she is, inside and out.
You can see how happy the girl is that she gets to be with her mother. That huge smile, and slightly goofy face will warm anyone’s heart.
This heartbreaking picture is captioned, “She’s my pretty old girl,” showing the strong bond the two of them had. You can barely tell Hannah is a day older than 2 in this picture because of her huge smile.
However the end of the day nears and the hard part comes. Hannah gets a lovely ride in mom’s lap as she goes to the vet clinic one last time.
When they arrive at the vet’s office, it’s a sad moment. Hannah had been a faithful dog through her life and it was time to say goodbye. She was given a quick, painless shot.
As she falls asleep, her mother, weeping, holds her in arms one last time with a warm intense hug.
It’s painful, but we cannot imagine a more perfect day to leave on. Hannah and her owner were truly blessed to have each other and the impact they had on each other’s lives can only be summed up with this final, heartbreaking image.
