Priest Accused Of Stealing $100,000 Worth Of Donations To Pay Off His Credit Card Debts

A priest has been charged with stealing almost $100,000 worth of donations to not only pay off his credit card debts but also bribe men on gay chat to perform indecent acts for him.

Reverend Joseph McLoone, the crooked priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, had been stealing the donated money of Good Samaritans for at least six years in order to pay for his disturbing private life.

According to the reports, the man had a secret bank account where he transferred a total of $98,405 worth of donations which he used mainly for paying off his private debts and bribing men on Grindr to perform sexual acts for him.

Out of the money stolen, he withdrew around $46,000 in the area where he owns a beach house.

As McLoone admitted, he used the funds to pay for “personal relationships” with other men, including an inmate whom he offered $1,200 for indecent activities.

On top of ripping people off of their donations, the rogue reverend also doubled his fee as a stipend each time he held a mass.

“Father McLoone held a position of leadership and his parishioners trusted him to properly handle their generous donations to the church,” Attorney Charles Gaz of Chester County stated.

“Father McLoone violated the trust of the members of St. Joseph’s for his own personal gain.”

The investigation into McLoone’s private life was launched in 2018 by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia after they detected suspicious activities.

“These charges are serious and disturbing. The Archdiocese and the parish will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as the criminal matter enters its next phase,” their statement read.

“Pending the outcome, Monsignor McLoone remains on administrative leave. Information regarding his arrest will be shared with the Saint Joseph Parish community.”
