Ashley and Hannah Schaus are two sisters who share an unbreakable bond, and when Ashley was getting married to William Seaton, she was more than ready to share her groom with her sister who has Down’s syndrome.
Over the years, Ashley made it clear that she and her sister come in a package and that there’s no separating them. And when William proposed to Ashley to marry him, he also proposed to Hannah to be his sister and best friend.
“She has Down syndrome and diabetes, and I look after her and protect her,” Ashley said in an interview with Fox News, adding that she will continue to care for her sister until the end.
“She’ll never be able to live alone. When my parents get older and can’t care for Hannah, she’ll be under my care.”
Speaking of the trio’s engagement, Ashley said:
“It was the sweetest moment in my whole life watching Hannah be so happy and feel so special. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.
“[William and Hannah] will make promises to each other to always care for one another, share secrets, make jokes and go fishing, as that’s one of their favorite things to do. Will and I will share our vows and then all three will walk down the aisle together.”
And when the time for the wedding came about, Ashley and William knew that they didn’t want to go through it without Hannah by their side.
And so, after exchanging vows between each other, the priest told Ashley to step aside so that William and Hannah could exchange their vows as well.
“Hannah, I’m thankful you’re my sister and my best friend. You’re one in a million. I promise to always take you fishing, tell you plenty of funny jokes, and most importantly, I promise to always look out for you and take care of you as a big brother,” William told Hannah.
As Ashley revealed to Inside Edition after their wedding, her sister “was on the verge of crying, I had to help her read [her vows] but it was very emotional.”
After the ceremony, Hannah and William also got to share the “first dance” as best friends as they boogied to ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’.
