The Whitehall Primary School in Chingford, Essex is under fire after the headteacher Zakia Khatun made some changes in the Christmas carol.
Mother of two students, who go to the Whitehall declared that her sons were very depressed after learning about such changes.
She, later on, went up ahead and said that the traditions are being changed and also added that her children are currently in shock and believes their freedom has been restricted.
Many of the parents believe is a discrimination against the Christian students of the school, and as if their religious beliefs are been taken away.
The headteacher took matters in her hands by changing “Lord Jesus” into “Baby Boy Jesus”, which made many Christian parents believe that the religion was not getting enough respect.
When Ms Khatun confronted regarding this matter, she later on stated in her defence that, about 60 children did not attend the carol services held in St Paul and St Peter Churches, due to their religious beliefs.
However, former Bishop of Rochester, Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali said that the carol is known throughout the entire planet, and the word “Lord Jesus” is directed to be a message about Christmas that means the Almighty is with us through Jesus.
He also pointed out that the whole thing is what creates the true meaning of Christmas. One teacher said that the past year few pupils came out to celebrate the joy of Christmas as if they felt they were left out.
Keeping all the things in hand, they wanted to create something much more special than all students of all faith can come together participate in the activities and fun, which Christmas has in store for everyone in the process.
This will allow them to maintain the traditional Christmas message of joy and excitement.
