Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman actress got into a debate over what it feels like to be an Israeli citizen after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “the country is the homeland only of the Jewish people.
”
“Love thy neighbor,” the actress posted on Instagram where she has a following of 28.3 million. In her rage and sanity, she said what she really believed in.
She said “It is not a matter of right or left, Arabs or Jews, secular or religious, It is a matter of dialogue, of dialogue for peace, and of our tolerance for each other. It is our responsibility to shine hope and light for a better future for our children.”
The rage broke out in Gadot after Netanyahu addressed her friend model and actor Rotem Sela as “slightly confused people” on Instagram after she defended the rights of Arab Israelis. Although the community is in minority they still make up 20% of the entire population in the country.
Netanyahu wrote on his Instagram “Israel is not a state for all its citizens. According to the nation-state law that we passed, Israel is the state of the Jewish people — and belongs to them alone,”
Last year the law of Israel being a “Nation-state” was passed and it only gave the right of self-determination to the Jews. Arabic as a language was taken out of being an official language and dismayed the minorities in the country.
According to other officials, the law was merely a gesture but Netanyahu did not agree with the same. Netanyahu believed it to be an answer to Palestine who challenged self-determination for a Jewish.
Prime Minister wrote for Sela saying “As you wrote, there’s no problem with the Arab citizens of Israel — they have the same rights as us all and the Likud government has invested in the Arab sector more than any other government.”
