The Duke of Sussex has two new American jobs after giving up his official duties with the Royal Family.
Prince Harry announced that he will serve as ‘chief impact officer’ for the mental health organization BetterUp.
In just 48 hours, he has joined the Aspen Institute as one of the 14 ‘commissioners’ who ‘fight against misinformation.’
The Aspen Institute’s mission is to build a “free, just, and equitable society.” It is one of America’s popular and best-funded think tanks, drawing funds for research from big companies, including Facebook.
In a statement provided to USA TODAY, Prince Harry said: “As I’ve said, the experience of today’s digital world has us inundated with an avalanche of misinformation, affecting our ability as individuals as well as societies to think clearly and truly understand the world we live in.”
He continued: “It’s my belief that this is a humanitarian issue – and as such, it demands a multi-stakeholder response from advocacy voices, members of the media, academic researchers, and both government and civil society leaders.
“I’m eager to join this new Aspen commission and look forward to working on a solution-oriented approach to the information disorder crisis.”
His new role as a ‘philanthropic leader’ will involve regular meetings. He will join former Texas congresswoman Will Hurd, Kathryn Murdoch, the ‘radical centrist’ daughter-in-law of billionaire Rupert, and Sue Gordon, the former principal deputy director of national intelligence.
Harry and Meghan, who have signed deals worth more than $100 million with Spotify and Netflix, were accused of making questionable claims during their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Viacom CBS was also accused of editing headlines of UK newspapers to support the claims about racist press coverage.
