Dawn Porter, the director for Harry’s documentary releasing on AppleTV+, has talked about how Prince Harry volunteered to go through therapy.
His response is recorded on camera, and he was “game for trying something” in order to help his mental wellbeing.
Porter, an American documentary filmmaker, has produced works such as Trapped and Gideon’s Army, commenting how she convinced the Dude of Sussex and Oprah Winfrey to open up and share their insights on the current situation at hand.
Porter states that she already knew a lot was happening, and that he was doing his best to maintain his mental health but also was open to going through therapy. Porter says that “we have the opportunity to film this [therapy] and maybe this is something that will work for some people, maybe it won’t, but the idea is that you don’t tick a box and you’re done, mental wellness is an ongoing pursuit.”
Porter adds that “you have to continue to try new things and to push yourself, and is volunteering to try something was a great way to emphasize and underscore that point.”
The project that they are working on is very important towards Oprah and Prince Harry, revealing the personal and deep feelings about destigmatizing conversations that are tied to mental health. She says that the both of them were extremely hands on to the therapy and worked in a collaborative effort in order to make filming successful.
Porter comments that she was “glued to the TV like everybody else.” It is clear that the two of them are comfortable with each other after Harry drops his truth bomb about the Royal Family and how they have failed to help him and his wife heal.
In candid interviews, he mentions that him and his wife felt like they were left in the dust and abandoned by his relatives, hence their motive to live in California after leaving the family. He says that he will “never be bullied into silence. Every single ask, request, warning, whatever it is, just got me with total silence, total neglect.”
He had added on that he felt trapped whenever he was with his family.
