Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend their final official function as royals in the coming week.

It will be a Commonwealth Day Service held at Westminster Abbey, and will be attended by other royals including the Queen, Prince William, and his wife Kate Middleton.

It will be the first appearance of the Duke and Duchess with the royal family since they announced their exit from the royal setup back in January.

Prince Harry and Princess Meghan sparked a royal crisis when they announced that they wanted to relinquish their royal charges and to adopt a dual role by earning money for themselves and supporting the Queen.

However, the plan seems to not have worked as the couple are now completely letting go of their HRH titles and are going to adopt a non-royal style of living, most probably in Canada starting from March 31.

Last week, the Canadian government announced that they will no longer be providing security to the couple after they let go of their royal status.

The security arrangements will cost the British taxpayers a hefty $30 million a year.

Phil Dampier, a royal expert, theorized that the couple should stop receiving any public money directly or indirectly after they give up their royal titles and start living in Canada as private citizens.

The couple will be living on their own income that will be millions of dollars a year.

“It was only a matter of time before the Canadians stopped paying for their security because they’re no longer working royals and now obviously the burden will fall on British taxpayers,” Phil told MailOnline.

On the other hand, the Taxpayers’ Alliance announced: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex can’t have it both ways: either they’re working royals with the obligations which that entails, or they’re private citizens seeking independence.”

The last royal function of the couple, the Commonwealth Day Service, will be held on March 9. It will be on the air live on BBC One and BBC World Service.

The reflection will be delivered by the International boxing champion and Olympic gold medalist, Anthony Joshua. Singers Craig David and Alexandra Burke will also perform at the event.

Total attendance of the event will be above 2,000 people, with the notable attendees including Prime Minister Boris, secretary-general of commonwealth Baroness Scotland, ambassadors, high commissioners, faith leaders, and more than 800 youth and school children.
