The Duke of Sussex claimed racism was a ‘large part’ of why he and his wife Meghan decided to leave Britain.
Prince Harry also claims that the Queen snubbed him after she was allegedly overruled by royal staff when she invited him and Meghan to Sandringham.
During the two-hour interview with Oprah, the couple spoke of remarks by a family member about the potential skin color of their son, lack of support that the Duchess of Sussex said made her have suicidal thoughts, and racist coverage from the tabloid press.
The couple refused to reveal the name of the person who made the racist remark.
In one of the recently released videos, Harry said the Queen tried to invite him and Meghan to Sandringham when they returned from Canada in January 2020.
However, he received a message from a royal staff saying that the trip was canceled.
Harry said that he called the Queen from Frogmore Cottage and she allegedly said: “Yes, there’s something in my diary that I didn’t know that I had.”
The Duke of Sussex said their conversation showed that even his grandmother could be overruled by royal staff, who he accused of giving “very bad” advice.
Harry also reignited the war with the press, saying racism “was a large part” of his and his wife’s decision to leave the UK.
He claimed he was told by someone at a charity event: “You need to understand that the UK is very bigoted,” to which he said he replied: “The UK is not bigoted, the UK press is bigoted, specifically the tabloids.
“But unfortunately if the source of info is inherently corrupt or racist or biased then that filters out to the rest of society.”
